Leading Change Learning Community
The onPrinciple Leading Change Learning Community is a year-long leadership formation experience designed for senior leaders and those preparing for senior leadership who desire to strengthen their capacity to lead change. Rooted in the YMCA's Christian heritage and open to leaders of all faith traditions and those who are open to exploring matters of faith, participants journey alongside a trusted community of peers while exploring what it means to allow Christian principles reflected in the YMCA mission to shape leadership practice.
Through bi-monthly virtual gatherings, guided reflection, shared learning, and authentic conversation, participants develop the adaptive leadership capacity needed to navigate complexity, mobilize people, and lead meaningful change with clarity, conviction, and faithfulness. Grounded in Tod Bolsinger's Practicing Change series, the Learning Community provides practical frameworks and immediately applicable insights while creating space for leaders to bring real opportunities, challenges, successes, and setbacks into conversation.
A defining feature of the experience is the annual onPrinciple Gathering at YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, where participants from every Leading Change Learning Community come together to deepen relationships, share learning across communities, and strengthen their connection to the broader onPrinciple network.
Throughout the year, participants apply their learning within their own YMCA while drawing wisdom, encouragement, and accountability from a trusted peer community that understands the unique opportunities and challenges of YMCA leadership. The Learning Community provides an ongoing rhythm of reflection, mutual support, and practical application that equips leaders to faithfully guide change while strengthening mission centered organizations.
